TreadStone is a material science technology development company with expertise and experience in specialized coatings and coating process methods for electrochemical devices and processes such as fuel cells, electrolyzers, flow batteries, lithium batteries and compressors. TreadStone was founded by Mr. Gerald DeCuollo and Dr. Conghua Wang. Mr. DeCuollo is an experienced entrepreneur with 35 years of experience in international business, technology development and licensing in the energy markets. Dr. Wang is noted expert in electrochemical coating technology with over 23 patents awarded and in application. Dr. Wang has published chapter in texts on Electrochemistry and routinely speaks at technical conferences worldwide.
TreadStone is based in Princeton, New Jersey USA and maintains office and laboratory space that houses novel coating equipment, analytical testing equipment and other specialty equipment to support it development and commercialization objectives. TreadStone maintains a fully equipped machine shop to design and fabricate innovative equipment and fixtures.
TreadStone is capable of providing coated samples for customer testing and low volume production. In 2018, TreadStone signed a license agreement for its' patented DOT coating and coating equipment with IHI Ionbond. IHI Ionbond is a recognized coating company with 39 accredited coating centers in the global market. IHI Ionbond maintains development and production facility in Venlo, The Netherlands. IHI Ionbond is part of the IHI Group based on Tokyo, Japan.
In January 2019, IHI Ionbond launched a fully operational production coating unit based on TreadStone's patented DOT coating technology. The production is capable of coating up to 300,000 parts per year (automotive size fuel cell parts) and can coat parts up to 1 meter by 1 meter. The coating unit is fully industrialized for high volume production orders. A second unit is now in the design phase.
