Leadership Team Introduction

TreadStone's leadership team is built for scale. Our Leadership Team brings together the technical depth, government relationships, legal expertise, and investment experience needed to build a Tier 1 supplier to the global energy industry — and to execute on that ambition at speed.

Gerald DeCuollo — Chairman, Chief Executive Officer & Director

Gerald has spent over 35 years at the intersection of chemistry, industrial technology, and global energy markets. His track record spans technology development and commercialization, patent licensing, international business development, and supply chain strategy across the energy, chemical, and refining sectors. Gerald founded TreadStone with a clear mission: build the preeminent coating supplier for the electrochemical systems powering the next energy economy. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.A. in Business Management from Penn State University.

Eric Shepardson — President and Chief Operating Officer

Eric brings more than 25 years of commercial and operational leadership across coatings, specialty chemicals, advanced manufacturing, and the defense, aerospace, and energy markets. His career spans executive roles at Bodycote, Ergon, PPG Industries, and AHT Technologies — a Dow Corning polysiloxane division — where he has built sales organizations from the ground up, led greenfield manufacturing scale-ups, managed DoD and DoE program partnerships, and driven new technology commercialization across demanding industrial sectors. His cross-functional expertise spans P&L management, ISO-certified quality systems, strategic M&A, demand planning, and multichannel go-to-market execution. As President and COO, Eric leads TreadStone's commercial operations and manufacturing strategy, bringing the rare combination of technical fluency and enterprise sales experience that scaling a Tier 1 supplier requires. He holds a B.A. in Communications and Business Management from Hanover College.

Dr. Conghua Wang — Chief Technology Officer, Vice President & Director

Dr. Wang is the scientific engine behind TreadStone's IP portfolio. With over 25 years in the fuel cell industry and more than 67 patents to his name, he is one of the world's leading experts in PEM fuel cells, solid oxide fuel cells, and the advanced materials science that underlies all of TreadStone's coating technologies. His work has been published in leading electrochemistry textbooks and presented at conferences worldwide. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology in Beijing, PRC. His innovations are the foundation of every coating technology TreadStone brings to market.

Michael Kelley — Chief Government Affairs Officer & Director

Michael gives TreadStone direct access to the highest levels of U.S. energy and trade policy. As former Deputy Assistant Secretary of International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, Michael has the relationships and institutional knowledge to help TreadStone navigate federal procurement, DOE program partnerships, and international market entry. His private sector career includes senior positions at Babcock & Wilcox, Union Camp Corporation, and Houston Natural Gas Corporation. Michael holds a B.A. from Fairfield University and an M.A. from Georgetown University.

Anthony Rickert — Strategic Adviser & Director

Anthony brings 30 years of corporate and technology law experience from DLA Piper, one of the world's largest law firms, where he chaired the U.S. private equity practice. As an active angel investor with founding positions in more than 10 emerging technology companies, with four exits including one IPO, Anthony provides TreadStone with the legal, structuring, and investor relations expertise needed to execute at scale. His guidance is instrumental as TreadStone scales its manufacturing, pursues OEM qualification programs, and positions for ongoing institutional investment.
